Planning and Organising involves a number of tasks.
Here are the general tasks you will need to do!
  • Follow instructions
  • Being on time
  • Putting things in their correct place or order
  • Look for better ways to do things
  • Gaining information and using this to achieve a goal
  • Completing tasks in a set order
  • Making lists of things to do
  • Having people complete set tasks
Using your time wisely
The key to time management is to make the time and focus on the priorities.
Using your time is your choice. Use it wisely.
168 hours in a week! Consider a time diary to work out how you use your time!
Priorities
Let's discuss the difference between important and urgent.
List 5 things you need to do today!
Then decide which tasks are urgent and which are important?
Which ones should you do first!

How to prioritise
Choosing what to do first, requires us to think about what is really important and not so much about what is really urgent. Yes, you'll need to do the urgent things, but focus on the important things to do first!  And don't do the things that are less urgent and less important!
Think about your Career, Relationships and Yourself and choose 2-3 items which are important that you can plan into next week! What's important in your job, with your family and friends, what's important to yourself!

Planning an event
Time to put planning and organising into practice, let's plan an event.  Use the below tool (Stay on your Feet) to help you plan.

  • A visit to a popular tourist attraction or exhibition to observe how people use employability skills
  • Making something (plant holders, cards, food) to sell at an event
  • Any other ideas that could be completed in a day....and have a realistic budget
Planning should include
  • Deciding on the event, date, day, time, duration
  • Delegating and Determining roles - team leader (event manager) and other roles and who will do what
  • Staying within Budget
